I am a mother of two boys. This isn't anything special, just somewhere I can write about how our day went, what we did, and sometimes just how I'm feeling trying to manage two young boys.
Saturday, February 2 was Museum Day. We always enjoy this day As it gives us another opportunity to take the boys to see some of the interesting and fascinating art, history, and culture available in our city. The last couple of years we always picked the places to go, but as Miles has developed his own interests we decided to let him pick. His picks were the California Automobile Museum and the California State Railroad Museum (which he's been to twice already and loves).
So packed and ready for the day we head out for a learning experience. He likes the auto museum as not only had cars but all kinds of cars from big to small and from old to new and from all over. As it was also groundhog's day the museum has a little game for the kids. They had groundhogs hidden among the cars for the kids to find for a prize at the end.

Looks like he found Sarge there too

Stopping by Danny's Mini Donuts. My husband loves this place and we always have to make a stop when ever we are in Old Sac. Sorry I didn't take any of the pictures of the donuts, they got consumed way too fast before I was able to get a shot.
So it's been a while since any posting.....we've been running around crazy the last few months or so doing family events, birthdays, work, and anything else that seems to keep our weekends packed. So here is a short recap of some the things we've been up to to round up 2012.
We had a visit from one of my good friends from college. She and her husband had moved to Utah a while back and so we don't see them too often anymore. So visits whenever they return to California are awesome. Miles and Leta had not seen each other in over a year.
We also went to Dave's Pumpkin Patch in West Sacramento. We had a blast running through the hay maze, climbing the hay pyramid, watching the pig races, playing in the corn box, going on hay rides, riding the ponies, and of course picking our pumpkins.

This year was also Caleb's very first year trick-or-treating (not that Miles has all that much more experience). We had some company this year as our friends Susan and Vang and their daughter Sheng Yang came along.
We also had several family birthdays and our annual Moua Family Thanksgiving event. I forgot to take the camera this year though so no pictures from the event but we enjoyed spending time with family, and those memories don't need pictures. Although, there was a family slide show there, so I will have to ask my cousin if I could get a copy and maybe will post.
Miles turned 3 at the end of November and since his cousins had birthdays all within two weeks of each other, we threw one big skating party for all four. (Miles - 3, Lily - 4, Kailey - 2, Simon - 11) We all had a blast and everyone enjoyed some fun and laughs roller skating.

Miles also had his first dental visit with our family dentist. Our dentist had recommended a pediatric dentist a while back but I couldn't wait until Miles could see our family dentist. Not that there was anything wrong with any other dentist, I just liked the way our family dentist is and he didn't start seeing children until they were a little older. He did really good with his first set of dental x-rays and enjoyed the visit oh so much.

Miles and Caleb brushing their teeth. It may be a mundane every day
thing but my boys love brushing their teeth. Let's hope this continues
so I don't have to worry about any dental issues.
We unfortunately could not do our usual tour of lights this year as the weekend that we had planned to go the boys were sick and it was pouring down like cats and dogs. Hopefully we'll be able to catch it next year. Here's a clip from 2011 from one of the houses that did penguin land.
This year we actually got pictures of them visiting Santa Claus. We had taken Miles before but he was too scared so we never got any pictures. This year we thought we'd try for a picture and oh what a picture....it's almost the classic crying on Santa's lap. Maybe next year will be better......
We of course enjoyed opening presents on Christmas morning with the boys. Caleb learned quick how to tear away at the gift wrapping after watching Miles do it a few times. Here is one shot of them after they had opened their guitars. They've been enjoying being "rock stars" with The Fresh Beat band and Miles had been asking for a guitar.
It's a little blurry but here are my rock stars going at it

We have all had a great 2012 and enjoyed many funny and memorable moments.
From our blue house we wish you a great and even more awesome 2013
So the last few years there really hasn't been too much focus on my birthday, not that I am complaining, but that's that way it's been since the boys came along. I've been more than happy with the cake with dinner or breakfast form the hubby and kids.
This year however, I decided that I would treat myself to having the day to be an adult and do adult things. I rarely get any time to myself so I had asked for the off to do whatever I wanted. The kids went to my mother's house and enjoyed their day as usual. The hubby took the boys over and allowed me to sleep in until 8:30 am. 8:30!!!! I couldn't believe it. It's rare now a days to sleep until that time so I was completely shocked when I woke up and realized what time it was.
I enjoyed taking my time getting ready and then headed to a new little place called Bacon N Butter that I had been wanting to try for breakfast. Oh, it was AWESOME!!! They had great crispy thick sliced bacon.....my mouth waters thinking about it now. We sat by a window and chatted and watched the morning go by.
The biscuits and gravy (with bacon and then
an egg on top) and the "simple man" breakfast
We enjoyed a little stroll downtown after breakfast and headed to meet up with Blia and Kong, where we ate some more. It was nice to not have to be anywhere by a certain time. We even caught a movie in the middle of the day. We saw Pitch Perfect. It was a great funny little flick, nothing too serious. It was a good laugh.
What I loved best was that I decided to make it a day for me. Having those kind of days are good because they help to keep me sane and therefore better to take care if my family. It was a good day.
So I hadn't seen my friend, Jenn, in some time and we figured we meet on one of my Fridays off....and her's too (well in her case she has every Friday off). To get some time to catch up and allow the kids to have some fun we decided to meet up at Fairytale Town. Miles and Caleb had a blast....and Jenn and I got some catching-up done.

Thanks so much to Jenn for allowing my kids to dictate where we were going to meet up. They could care less what the reason for going to Fairytale Town was, just that they got to go. Sometimes my days are filled with kid talk and talking to myself (this is how I end up talking about myself in third person - which drives my husband crazy) so it's always nice to be able to have the chance to have some adult conversation and allow my kids the ability to let out some energy at the same time.
