Welcome to our house

I am a mother of two boys. This isn't anything special, just somewhere I can write about how our day went, what we did, and sometimes just how I'm feeling trying to manage two young boys.

CWS Fridays

Oh how I love my CWS Fridays. It's worth doing 9 hour days so I can get an extra day with my boys. It's been crazy at our house the past few weeks with the boys getting sick, me getting a sinus infection, both boys getting ear infections, and then getting sick again. Miles was not eating much, and he LOVES to eat, so it was hard to see him refuse to eat. Caleb was also teething and therefore was not sleeping well either. With all of this going on it was finally nice to be home today and have both boys feeling well.

I was glad they were doing well and the weather was good today. The sun was out and it was a nice 73 degrees for a winter day. We hung around the house in the morning and did our usual stuff.

We then spent the afternoon at the park and enjoyed the sunshine. After dinner we even went for some ice cream at Gunther's, one of our two favorite ice cream places.  It has been a good Friday.

Things my kids will break

Occurred yesterday:

I hear running water in the bathroom...go in. Miles is standing on his stool with the water running and my iphone in the sink.

Miles: Wash phone mommy (with a smile on his face)
Me: No baby...mommy's phone does not need washing.
Miles: No mommy wash phone (as I take my phone out of the sink)

So we can now also add my iphone to the list of things that my son has broken around our house.  A while back he had broken the DVD player, our CD player, and a few other electronic stuff.  Now I understand that having young children there is the possibility that some of our things will break or be broken.  In the case of our DVD player....it was an old one we had been using for YEARS and we probably needed to replace it anyways but it was still useable, but then when Miles broke it there was nothing to use.  We even went months without watching any movies.

Although it was kind of cute that he felt the need to wash something for me...it still hurts to think of how much it will cost if I have to replace the phone.  If only my son knew how much it cost to replace these type of items.  And I'm sure that there will be many many more things that will break in the years to come....it's just that it gets expensive. Thinking now I should try to figure out some way to have a policy/guarantee for items that kids will break.

So needless to say I am without a phone for a few days as we try to leave my phone in rice, as suggested by many friends and other iphone users.  Let's hope that works.

Museum Day

Sacramento holds a Museum Day every year where all the museums are free.  This year there were 28 participating museums, which included the Sacramento Zoo and Fairytale Town.  As Miles was older this year we figured we'd stick to something he would enjoy more.  So we decided to go to the Sacramento Children's Museum and the California State Railroad Museum.

Our first stop was the Sacramento Children's Museum.  It's a learn by doing museum and has lots of hands on exhibits.  Miles had fun running around with all the other children.  He had fun "building" with packing peanuts.  I had never thought about it...they wet one side and they stuck together to build anything you wanted.

After that we headed to a place Miles could not wait for...the Railroad Museum. Miles LOVES his trains.  "Chooo Chooo" Miles yells as we headed over to the museum.  Arriving at the museum his eyes grew big and said "Mommy...choochoo train!! ChooChoo train!" As we walked through the entrance and past the gift shop Miles screamed " Thomas mommy...Thomas!" What boy doesn't love Thomas the Train.  Miles had the time of his life seeing all the different types of trains and getting to go inside the trains.  Just seeing how big trains really are amazed him.  He was in heaven.  The first floor had the real life size trains and the second floor had the toy trains.  He was even more excited at the large toy train exhibit as he watched the trains go in and out of tunnels.

Watching the small train toy exhibit.  He was excited
because he got to push the button for the train to start.

much fun to see what was inside each train.

Heading into the mail train....let's see where the mail is going.

It had been a long time since I had been to the Railroad Museum.  Even I was amazed at the awesomeness of it.  It was so great to be able to watch Miles run around with excitement at a place I remember coming to as a child also.  Afterwards, we walked around Old Sacramento and enjoyed the sunny afternoon.
