It was great. We all enjoyed some good food and then afterwards we headed over to Cal Expo for the California State Fair. Miles had been asking to go since the state fair opened. The fair is about a mile and a half from our house so...it's kind of hard to drive around and not have him see all the rides and things going on there without asking if he could go there. It was a hot day so we spent quite a bit of time in the exhibit halls with their shows, displays, and information about the many great things that go on in our wonderful state. There were the animals of course. There was a great habitat structure for the birds. After all the walking around though, the kids finally got what they loved the best....the rides.
With one of the golden bears
Miles, Audrey, Allison, & Julian at the 9/11 memorial fountain
Replica of the twin towers & the bells (which ring every hour)
Audrey and Miles trying to cool off with the mist form the fountain
The Peacocks
a few of the many birds on exhibit
A papaya tree...as much as I love papaya salad I have never seen
an actual papaya tree so I had to take a picture of one.
Miles and Allison trying to slay the dragon
with the wizard
walking around the fair
Enjoying some rides
And as the day wore into evening the lights of the carnival light up the sky
We stayed and watched the fireworks. We can hear them every night from our house so it was nice to finally be out and see them. Miles is usually asleep when the are going off. It was a fun filled day had by all.
